As back-to-school season approaches, parents, students, and teachers are preparing for another school year, whether it be in-person or through virtual classrooms. Or you may be homeschooling your children. Nonetheless, the back-to-school season is the perfect time to turn your home into a comfortable learning space for those lessons and of course, homework.

While you are crossing off items on the back-to-school shopping list, we’ve got some tips to help you transform your home into the perfect hub to encourage academic success!

Dedicated Study Space. The first tip to creating a learning environment at home is to establish a dedicated study area. This space should be free from distractions and is ideally located in a quiet area of the house so your young scholars can focus and concentrate.

Invest in a Setup. A comfortable learning environment also requires a proper setup. Invest in a desk and chair that not only gives your kids ample room but also supports good posture and reduces strain on the body during extended study periods.

Organize Supplies. Keep all necessary school supplies within arm’s reach including pencils, pens, and paper. Consider purchasing desk organizers, shelves, and drawers to maintain a clutter-free space.

Personalization. Encourage creativity by allowing your kids to personalize their study space. Let them decorate their space with posters, artwork, or even plants. You can even take them to the bookstore and have them purchase some books to start their own personal library at home.

Tech Integration. Be sure to equip the study space with essential gadgets like laptops, tablets, or desktop computers. You can even add apps to help reinforce what your child is learning in the classroom.

In addition to creating a learning environment, you should also create a daily schedule for your kids. This includes wake-up times, school bus schedules, and homework deadlines. You can post this schedule in their study space or somewhere in the house to help them get settled into the new school year.
